    MILESTONES

A nomadic blacksmith dealing with titans of steel, Anilore Banon is a future-oriented artist.
Born in Casablanca, she spent her childhood and studied in Paris before moving to Los Angeles and, subsequently, to Milan. She spent several months in China, travelling to South Africa and the North Pole before spending a decade in New York. She now lives in Paris where she set her workshop up in a former forge in the 19th arrondissement.
Anilore Banon's work is inspired by the conflicts that torture our society, injustice by human beings against other human beings, oblivion threatening our collective memory and the chaos that attends the least of our gestures. Her monumental sculptures stand as a counterweight, seeking a balance through the artistic assertion of the strength and nobility of men and women.
Her sculptures speak of Human Beings standing upright, brought together to celebrate the tremendous power of women and men to change their destiny and to seize the impossible.
"Anilore Banon's sculptures stand upright - as upright as our own and our ancestors' bodies have stood for ten million years; upright like the columns of our cultures' temples for ten thousand years, upright like the solemn offering to Men and Gods, upright like a proclamation, warning or deterrent, upright like curiosity, vigilance, clairvoyance and upright like freedom, responsibility, dignity."
